Eastern Iowa man's car found over 30 years after disappearance

DUBUQUE, Iowa — An over 30-year-old missing person case is one step closer to being solved after a car was discovered in the Mississippi River earlier this month. Paul Joseph Knockel, 53, was reported missing by his family in Dubuque on Nov. 25, 1990 — nearly 33 years ago. According to Iowa Cold Cases, Knockel was last seen on Nov. 12 and his car was last seen on Nov. 13 parked along Highway 151, near the Dubuque-Wisconsin Bridge.

Police: Suspect committed sexual abuse of 12-year-old

A 45-year-old Davenport man faces a felony charge after police say he committed sexual abuse on a 12-year-old. Jason Heider faces a charge of second-degree sexual abuse, Scott County Jail records say. Another person “aided and abetted the act” by being present and taking photos of the act shortly after 11:30 a.m. Jan. 18 in Davenport, an arrest affidavit says. Heider had a cell phone with messages “admitting to the sex acts with the victim.
